Everything you need to know about Captain America and the Avengers

Game Boy Captain America and the Avengers - Titulo

Captain America and the Avengers is a side-scrolling beat em up video game for the nintendo game boy which is based on characters from the Marvel franchise. The game offers players the ability to control all members of the Alliance (Including Steve Rogers (Captain America), Tony Stark (Iron Man), Hawkeye (Clint Barton) (Hawkeye) and Vision) to fight the evil red-skull and stop it from taking over the world

The video game version of these characters was first introduced in 1987 with Super Mario Land, as well as several others that launched a new subgenre in gaming known as action platformers. As part of the Captain America line of games, this is another entry in the long-running beat ?em up series that has been released on various consoles since 1990, including this version for the GameBoy.

Brief History Captain America and the Avengers

Red Skull is back with a sinister mind control device to command the earth's most evil supervillains against the forces of good. Supervillains want control of the universe! Captain America and the Avengers are the world's last hope in this battle against evil!

Join Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Vision as they combine their special powers with your abilities in a last-ditch effort to defeat Red Skull and his evil minions. Succeed and you will be a hero. If you fail, we will revoke your Avengers security clearance!?

Captain America and the Avengers gameplay

The game consists of five stages, which mainly focus on side-scrolling fighting gameplay, but some of the levels also feature side-scrolling shooting stages, where the heroes fight against threats in the air (Stage 2), under the sea (Stage 3), and in space (Stage 5).

The boss villains in the game consist of Living Laser and Klaw, Whirlwind, Grim Reaper, Wizard, Mandarin, Juggernaut, Ultron, Controller, Crossbones, and Red Skull. In addition to the four playable Avengers, Quicksilver makes brief appearances to drop energy replenishments, and Wasp can add protection and firepower in shooting areas.

One of the fun things to do in this game is throw things and enemies, whether they're stuck or not. It's a lot of fun to pick up a park bench, a soda can machine, a large rock, or one of the common nameless enemies indiscriminately and just throw them as if they were the same size. This bodes well for all the characters, although some handle it better than others (Iron Man and Cap have an easier time picking up enemies).

Power-ups are very rare, in fact the only time you get any (aside from inserting a quarter to increase your power bar, which is a numerical meter by the way) is when Quicksilver runs up and appears to be a blue badge. , which gives you 20 points. Do you look at each character's statistic where it tells you what their strength is? Well, when you fight common enemies, it won't matter, but it does matter when you fight a boss: then Hawkeye will be eliminated much faster than Iron Man.

Characters

Welcome! I am Captain America:

Captain America? before, steve rogers, artist. Thanks to an experiment in World War II, he became a one-man army. Still seeking to bring the war criminal, red-skull, before the court. I can throw my unbreakable shield at my enemies.

Hi, I'm Tony Stark!

President of Stark Industries. After a near-fatal injury in Southeast Asia, I built the armor of Hombre de Hierro to give my life. With my armor, I can charge at my enemies, shoot energy beams from my palms, and fly with the thrusters on my feet.

I, Clint Barton:

hawk eye? adventurer, here. I am a natural marksman, specially trained by Captain America himself. I can use my bow to shoot explosive arrows.

I am Vision:

?the highest form of artificial life. was created by Ultron. Now I'm a avenger. my power comes from me Gem from the forehead, you can use it to shoot solar beams.

Graphics

The graphics are quite well detailed and colored, but at the same time have a harsh and dark look. For example, the superheroes and villains are fully detailed, and the objects you can use are well detailed, but the backgrounds, especially when you're outside, are darker and grittier looking. Overall, they were good for the overall feature and package of the game.

Music and Sound

Both the music and sound effects are good, although the voices made me roll! First of all, the music is your typical superhero fanfare, but for anyone who has played Robocop 2, you will also notice that the music in stage three sounds a lot like stage three of Robocop 2. I think the voices are funny, especially when Crossbones and Red Skull talk, and the conversation between your hero and Ultron is just a total Pulitzer Prize-winning moment.

Final reflection

This game was a lot of fun when it was released, and I think one of the main reasons it was is because you could control the four main Avengers characters without having to sacrifice any of them. Having almost a dozen villains also helped, and you didn't need to repeat any boss fights. Overall, it was a very fun game, and Data East did an excellent job of creating this great Marvel Superhero fanfare.
