Everything you need to know about Dragon The Bruce Lee Story
In the movie Bruce Lee The life of Bruce Lee was narrated and there were games like Dragon The Bruce Lee Story available for almost all platforms of the time: Super nintendo, the mega drive, the Atari Jaguar, the Game Gear and the Master System. In this case, I will review the Master System version, which was released only in Europe, although the same game is available in the Game Gear version (with lower resolution) as usual.
Gameplay of Dragon The Bruce Lee Story
When playing as Bruce, if you press both the flying kick button and the normal jump button, you will get a normal jump. However, to perform a high jump it is necessary to press both the high jump button and the normal jump button. In the game, jumping works as usual, although to make a high jump we must first press up and then jump, and to return to the ground we must first press down and then jump.
The hitting controls are unusual. When we press the hit button, Bruce will not perform any action, so we must press the hit button and then a direction before he can hit. That is, if we activate the punch button and then hit downwards, Bruce will perform a low kick. If we press up, our character will perform a high kick. We can perform a wide range of movements with this degree of flexibility, but the fact that the punch button only works if we press a direction is strange and could trick us into accidentally activating it.
Despite being simple, the controls take a while to understand (and get used to), as they are very unusual. In addition to it being quite strange to hit the power ups, it is also a rather peculiar decision.
Each level of the game consists of three phases and has enemies and a boss at the end of each phase. We will have to be careful in the levels because there are saws (these traps also hurt enemies), but fortunately they are also capable of damaging them. The game is not particularly long (we can finish it in half an hour or less) but in the initial games we will be killed quickly and there will be no restarts. We can modify the difficulty level (easy, normal or difficult), increase the number of lives or ask a friend to accompany us in the simultaneous mode for two players, which is quite fun.
Graphics
Being a Master System game, this isn't too bad. Of course, you get much better graphics for a PS2 game. But let's remember that it is a game for the Sega Master System, this is not bad, but not that good either. The backgrounds are quite nice, the only thing I complain about are the characters and some of the movements. The characters could have looked a little better (except Bruce, he was well done) and the movements could have been a little more fluid. But otherwise it's nice.
Music and Sound
If it's not so good, very appropriate. It manages to capture the mystical Chinese music in motion that suits a fighting game like this very well. The sound is better than the music, if that can be compared. The attacks and punching and kicking sounds are great, with lots of realistic noises.
¤You can hear the bones being crushed when Bruce does his ?puzzle?¤ (special attack, it hurts, believe me). The sound is very good, the music is decent.
Final reflection
If you are interested in fighting games or are a fan of Bruce Lee, try this game!
