Everything you need to know about Street Fighter 2

Master System Street Fighter II - Titulo de inicio del juego - You Tube

Street Fighter 2 is a 1992 fighting game originally released in the arcade and ported to many systems, in this case, Master System. Street Fighter 2 Master System is hailed as starting a revolution in the fighting game genre and popularizing it for a mass audience. Along with Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 2 defined many of the basic conventions we see in fighting games today. This game has countless remakes and sequels, but this is the one that started it all and got me into fighting games.

It is an 8-bit version of Capcom's revolutionary arcade fighting game Street Fighter II for the Sega Master System by Tec Toy in 1997. It is not a series of any specific version of Street Fighter II, but is instead a mix between the Mega Drive versions. from Street Fighter II?: Special Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, mixing elements of both. The title itself, Street Fighter II?, features the same blue fonts as the Champion Edition logo, as well as the main symbol (?) next to the number, which is pronounced Dash in Japan but is generally not spoken in the foreign.

Tectoy planned to develop Street Fighter II long before them, but Sega did not approve the idea, claiming it was an impossible task. After insisting for quite some time in vain, the Tectoy developers extracted some "arts" (sprites/backgrounds) from the Mega Drive version using emulators, adapted them and created a "move prototype" to show Sega, which has not yet I approved of that. At that point they decided to continue development even without approval. The development took between 5 to 7 months? 4 to 5 months of actual development, then 1 to 2 months of extracting images and adapting them.

Brief History Street Fighter 2

STARTING THE TOURNAMENT

Eight fighters from around the world have come together to face each other to find out which of them has the strength, aptitude and courage to be crowned champion. Each fighter has different skills and special moves, but it will take more than brute strength to earn the title of Grandmaster.

Select «Start of the game» on the title screen and you will be able to choose your champion for the tournament. When the tournament begins, your fighter will travel the world to face each of the other eight challengers.

(If a friend wants to challenge you during the tournament, they can press any button on your controller to stop your game.)

When the race begins, you must use your punches, kicks and special moves to take down your opponent. Every time you hit him, his energy meter will decrease. Once your opponent's energy meter is completely red, they will be defeated by counting. If you win two out of three, you will be declared the winner and will have the right to face the next challenger.

Street Fighter 2 Gameplay

Street Fighter 2 is a fast-paced fighting game where you control one fighter and fight another in a best-of-three round matchup. Each of you has a life bar and the goal is to deplete your opponent's life bar with punches, kicks, throws and other special moves. There are eight characters to choose from and each has their own special abilities. Special abilities require a unique input on the controller and there is a good variety of attacks to differentiate each character. The game is extremely easy to learn with a low learning curve.

The main story mode features the player traveling the world defeating the other fighters and four special fighters one at a time. They throw in two mini-games to keep things interesting. During all of this, you have a score that increases based on how quickly and cleanly you can defeat an opponent. The biggest achievement, however, comes with the fantastic multiplayer mode. This game is still played today all over the world because of the fun and fast fighting it offers.

Not everything is completely perfect with Street Fighter 2; the gameplay of some of the special input commands is too cryptic or simply unresponsive. There are some attacks that you can enter in exactly the same way five times in a row, but can only work once. The score counter is also a bit useless considering it's there for bragging rights and nothing more. Apart from this, this game has some of the most enduring and wonderful gameplay ever seen in the genre and it is no wonder that fighting games become extremely popular after their release.

Graphics

The graphics are outstanding. Each stage is carefully constructed and detailed, with some objects included in the background that can be interacted with if a player is hit. The fighters themselves are incredibly detailed and varied, each with their own personality and style. Their animation is especially impressive considering how fluidly they execute the many commands you throw at them. The only shortcut taken with the goblins came with Ryu and Ken; They are almost identical. Other than that, the visuals are outstanding and lack any significant flaws.

Music and Sound

The Street Fighter II soundtrack is nothing short of legendary. I can hum all the music easily because of how catchy and memorable it is. The most notable is "Guile's Theme," a song that sparked an Internet meme because it goes with almost everything. Each area comes alive with its respective music and adds an atmosphere of energy and excitement. There's also good variety in the soundtrack, using different types of world music as influence.

The sound effects are also nothing short of extraordinary. You have a wide variety of sounds and growls that make fighting much more engaging. There is also clear voice acting from an announcer and the characters when they use a special move. Sometimes the voice doesn't always fit the character well, but they still did a wonderful job with the audio in this game.

Final reflection

Street Fighter 2 is a highly recommended title for any generation and any type of player. It is a classic of the fighting genre and is one of the best Super Nintendo games ever made. I highly recommend this one if you can get it or one of the many ports available. This game may not be perfect, but it is definitely worth your time and money to play.
