Everything you need to know about Sonic 2
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was the pinnacle of the exceptional series starring the spiky hero, it was one of the best Genesis platformers on the market. By using some of the classic platformers that everyone loves, the developers created a real winner, it gave me and many other people some of the best gaming moments I have ever experienced, it's just a really good game.
Sonic 2 is a faster game overall. Sonic has been graphically redesigned. Sonic also appears to run faster, as well as having some new moves, such as the Super Spin Dash. The levels are now much larger, so you won't finish them all in less than a minute. The old special stage has been abandoned in favor of a pseudo 3D ring chase. Instead of collecting the chaos emerald, you must earn it by collecting the requested number of rings and dodging all the bombs to ensure you don't lose the rings. This special stage is also for 2 players, as featured in VS mode, where it is a competition between the two players to collect the most rings. Trust me, this mode is very competitive. Sonic 2 also introduces a Metal Sonic into the mix, a creation of Dr. Robotnik to counter Sonic.
If you missed the original game (there are some who did), Sonic is a hedgehog with special shoes that allow him to run at super-fast speeds. His nemesis, Dr. Robotnik, is hell-bent on world domination and intends to achieve it with the help of the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic's mission is to stop Robotnik in his tracks and, if possible, find all the Chaos Emeralds.
Ninja gaiden gameplay
The action is all-encompassing and fast-paced with little to no respite, so anyone who enjoyed the original Sonic the Hedgehog should get the same level of enjoyment (if not more) from this game.
With the addition of Tails, two people can now play the game at the same time cooperatively (which is a welcome addition), and the developers have released another mode, the two-player versus mode, which pits players 1 and 2 each other. another (one as Sonic, the other as Tails) in a split-screen view of one of several races you can compete in to see who is the best.
If you find Tails annoying you, you can change the game options from the main menu to play as Sonic and Tails, Sonic alone, or Tails alone.
The bonus stages have been redesigned to accommodate two players as well, so now, instead of the twisting, spinning blocks you navigated around in the first game, you (and Tails, if he's around) race up ramps collecting coins. Pretty stylish moves too if you're smart, just be careful with the bombs?
The levels are all really big, but you generally go down from three stages per act in the first game, to two stages per act in this second title. , but you don't feel TOO bad when you're playing, because like I say, the levels themselves are really big, definitely bigger than the first game.
There is another new function in this title, and that is that if you acquire all the Chaos Emeralds (there are seven in total), you can become Super Sonic, which you can activate when you exceed 50 rings and do a special jump in the air. Super Sonic is INCREDIBLY fast and looks great too, so it's obvious that the game developers haven't tried to simply repeat what they had before (which, I'm sure, would have been at least reasonably successful) – they instead , they've tried to adjust the parts they think could be improved, and they give you what you had before, and much more!
Graphics
The graphics are bright, colorful and really appealing to the eye. Most levels are vibrant and picturesque, everything is very clear and crisp, making the action on screen easy to understand. The backgrounds have a decent amount of detail, nothing too extraordinary, but aesthetically pleasing to the player. Sonic himself has done well, he has a lot of animations that are nice to look at, when he REALLY gets going his legs practically turn into a windmill, if he stands still too long he will just cross his arms and will look at the controller. , its creators really managed to give it a lot of attitude.
All of the enemies he faces have been made to look reasonably threatening, but they're certainly not the sort of thing that will appear in your nightmares, they all look fantastic and share the hero's attention to detail. There are a fair amount of special effects built into the game, from the spectacular lava pools in the Hill Top area or the flashing neon lights of the Casino level, they're always a pleasure to see.
Music and Sound
The audio aspects have also been superbly done, the background themes are upbeat little numbers that will raise the enjoyment level of anyone who listens to them. Each of the melodies fits quite well with the level that accompanies them and they are definitely not too repetitive. You will have to play this game for an extremely long period of time before you get tired of the music in this game.
There are a reasonable amount of sound effects, they sound great and never seem out of place. They have the craziness that a platformer requires, but fortunately they are never over the top. They are very soothing to the ear and are not repeated enough to irritate. Maybe they're a bit scarce, but the ones included in the game are of enough quality to get away with it.
In general, the entire sound scheme is of high quality. Music can get stuck in your head, it's that memorable. Few complaints here, a very good job overall.
Final reflection
There are some flaws in this game, but it's still a very low number. It's a very polished game that's definitely worth playing from time to time, despite its age. If you haven't tried this game or any other Sonic game, we recommend you go out and try any of them, they are all entertaining and a good solid game. Overall, this is a great platformer that brings a lot of fun and enjoyment, which is probably why it is a mascot……
