In 1993, Iguana Entertainment developed Aero the Acro Bat Super nintendo Y mega drive. David Siller, the creator of Crash Bandicoot and Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, was inspired to Aero the Acro Bat in the Sega mascot, sonic the hedgehog, after its debut in 1991. It was also inspired by the "pets with personality" trend that arose from the Sega mascot.
Aero, the acrobat bat, lives and works at the Amusement World Circus and Amusement Park. He must defend and save the circus from an evil industrialist and former clown named Edgar Ektor, as well as confront Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, an anthropomorphic red squirrel.

«Brief History of the Beginning of the Game Aero The Acro Bat«
Aero the Acro Bat Gameplay
Aero is a platform game. A very, very hard platformer. The deaths come quickly. One wrong move and your bat hero is food for Bubsy. To make the game more difficult, levels usually have objectives. The objectives are incredibly simple, stand on star platforms or jump through hoops. Really, its only purpose is to make you go through each part of the level.
Aero is not a great fighter. Your only attacks are quickly depleting stars and a hard-to-target piercing attack. Basically, press air jump again while holding one direction and Aero will punch in a diagonal direction. This is the only unlimited way to destroy enemies, and it's not that good. But the enemies aren't a big focus anyway. Its biggest challenge is the spikes. Clavos de la vieja escuela «Matarte de un solo golpe». They are everywhere. You'll use your drill to add momentum to your jump much more than you will to attack. The punch control could be better, but with a little practice you'll get the hang of it.
Aero is quite long to play in a single session platformer. Although you only have four main worlds, there are 19 levels and three boss fights, plus 7 bonus levels mode. There is no difficulty option, but it will take you a long, long time to finish the game. Fortunately, one-ups are plentiful. You start with five lives (and three continue, which are pretty useless since they send you back to the start of a world and the chances of getting through a subsequent world with only five lives at the start are low) and you could get 25-35 halfway through of world two.
But lives can be spent quickly. Mainly in the driving levels. Some levels, instead of giving you objectives, just make you ride something. You can go through 2-3 lives per minute on them. The only way you Reviewing this game is to keep trying and memorizing everything. But the feeling of satisfaction when you actually conquer this game is immense.
Graphics
Aero fails in the visual department. The characters are small and poorly detailed. Aero is a typical wannabe mascot of the 16-bit era. There are only four main backgrounds in the game, and they are not very detailed. The only things that looked decent were the bosses and foreground objects. Aero simply doesn't meet SNES standards in graphics.
Music and Sound
Here's a pleasant surprise. Aero actually has very good music. There are many circus themes and original melodies that get stuck in your head. It can get repetitive, but it's definitely good for a 16-bit platformer. The sound effects are not that great, there are very few of them and they sound clunky.
Curiosities
Metro 3D decided to adapt this game for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, after the fall of the 16-bit console era. After this, it disappeared and was forgotten until 2002, when Sunsoft used it as a mascot in the era of 16-bit consoles. It reappeared in 2010 for the Wii Virtual Console, after the Super Nintendo version was reissued in 2010.
The technical section is excellent. Firstly, Aero's sprite moves smoothly across the screen and is well done, as well as a good variety of different enemies. We also have a variety of colorful and detailed environments to explore.
The game contains very lively and excellent melodies, based on the music that is usually played in a circus, as well as good sound effects. On a technical level, I would say that the game is a little above the Mega Drive version, because the graphical aspect of the game is quite similar to that of the Mega Drive version, but the sound of the game is much better. In each version, however, there are different melodies.
We have a great game with an equally attractive and addictive mechanism, which can be controlled easily and simply. On the other hand, the game has many levels and is very well balanced.
Final reflection
Despite its flaws, Aero is actually a pretty good platformer. Although rough around the edges, the gameplay is good for those looking for a challenge. I felt compelled to finish this game despite the cheapness. It will take many tries, but many will find the journey enjoyable.
