Everything you need to know about Batman Returns

Super Nintendo Batman Returns - Titulo del juego

The Batman Returns Super Nintendo game is available on several platforms, including the Sega Mega Drive, Sega Mega-CD, Master System and Game Gear versions. The versions for the NES and Super Nintendo were produced and distributed by Konami, while the versions for the Sega Mega Drive, Sega Mega-CD, Master System and Game Gear were distributed by Sega. Spirit of Discovery published the PC version and the design was done by Denton Designs. There are also versions for the Atari Lynx and Atari, both published by Atari.

The game follows the plot line of the movie, with many different situations and scenarios. Several members of the Red Triangle Circus Gang assault Batman during the game. The batarang, as well as other weapons and gadgets, are at your disposal. Each level concludes with a final boss, which requires greater effort and strategy to destroy.

Some levels are played in 2-D instead of pseudo 3-D, where up-down movement is allowed. The fifth level involves driving the Batmobile in a chase scene and chasing some bikers and an armed vehicle. To defeat them, the Batmobile has a machine gun. The game received mostly positive reviews, although some criticized its lack of originality despite its excellent gameplay and balanced level of difficulty. Instead, the film received mixed reviews.

Despite being praised for its gameplay and difficulty level, the game was generally better received than the film it was based on, which had mixed reviews. Some critics added that it was original, although others stated that it was repetitive.

The game's graphics, sound and gameplay were also praised, as was its setting, which was adapted from Danny Elfman's score for the film (with music by Stephenie Pahinui and compositions by John Ottman and Danny Elfman). The game was voted the best licensed game of 1992 by Electronic Gaming Monthly.

Brief History Batman Returns

Gotham City is in the midst of a jubilant Christmas celebration. The mayor is giving his annual speech before lighting the Christmas tree in Gotham Plaza, when, to the surprise of the crowd, a huge gift box appears at the back of the plaza. As the crowd calms down, the box explodes with the roar of powerful engines. Bikers wearing skull masks, flame-breathing clowns and knife-wielding acrobats assault the crowd, striking terror where moments before there was joy.

Necesitamos a Batman aquí rápidamente».

«Señor, ¿me preparo?» ?pregunta Alfredo.

As Bruce puts on the rubber hood of his suit, Alfred presses a button on the remote control that starts the Batmobile's engine. A moment later, Batman jumps into the cockpit and speeds away to rescue Gotham City once again!

Batman Returns Gameplay

La jugabilidad es sencilla. Golpeas, pateas y lanzas enemigos. Si bien no hay mucha variedad, cangrab two enemies as mentioned above and hit them together.

A little tricky to pull off and usually more for show, but man is it cool to watch. When there are certain objects in the background, like windows or benches, you can also casually throw enemies at them and break up the scenery to boot. Nonchalantly throwing a psychopath dressed as a clown against a window and watching it break? or a bus stop sign. Yes, this is a Batman game, okay. The overall design and feel is great, with deliciously dark visuals that really provide that immersion of being the caped crusader. It's incredibly basic and repetitive, but very satisfying. Just walk around and beat the criminals, it's amazing.

Graphics

Visually, this game looks great and is a solid showcase of the SNES' capabilities. The game at different stages provides really cool lighting effects, like when a building catches fire it looks like you are in an area completely lit by fire, there is a section of the game where you are fighting in an abandoned building and it is very dark, Shadows play over the graphics of the entire game and make it appear darker. All of the character sprites in the game are quite large and detailed, and the animations are good and fluid. The only drawback in the graphics department is the Batmobile set, that whole set has a really drab and boring color palette and the background is really sterile. I guess they couldn't really match what Sega CD did with RAM limitations or whatever, but it just doesn't compare well to that game.

Music and Sound

Definitely it isa good game, and its strong points certainly outweigh the bad parts. It's just that said bad parts are also a hindrance to the overall experience. Still, this is a fun and authentic title that anyone who wanted to tear through the streets of Gotham, kicking faces while grunting, would enjoy. «¡Soy Batman!»
