The player controls the wonderful bounty hunter samus aran, who travels to the planet Zebes due to the facts that form the game to retrieve a creature metroid which has been stolen by the famous leader of the space pirates, Ridley.
Continuing the well-established gameplay model of its predecessors, Super Metroid focuses on exploring the world, earning rewards for reaching previously inaccessible areas. It introduced new concepts to the series, such as inventory screens, automatic maps, and the ability to shoot in all directions.
The development team for previous Metroid games, which included Yoshio Sakamoto, makoto kano Y Gunpei Yokoi, redeveloped Super Metroid over the course of two years. The developers wanted to create a live action game and pave the way for the return of the best Samus.
Super Metroid has received excellent reviews for its atmosphere, gameplay, music Y graphics. It is often considered one of the best video games of all time. The game sold well and had shipped 1.42 million copies worldwide by the end of 2003. Along with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Brief History Super Metroid
THE METROID THREAT
broken peace
The galaxy once enjoyed a period of peace and prosperity. The trade lines were open, the citizens were happy, and the Galactic Federation He watched the planets. Not long ago, that peace was shattered by a surprising discovery.
Dawn of the Metroids
On a routine inspection mission of the planet SR388, the crew of a Galactic Federation ship discovered a new form of life in the air and named it "metroid«. These creatures, which could engulf other living beings and sap their energy, proved to be strong and prolific. After just a few seconds of bombardment beta ray, a single Metroid became two Metroids, and then four. Several Metroid specimens were collected so that the crew of the inspection ship could take them to Galactic Federation Headquarters for further examination. As the crew sped towards headquarters, they were ambushed by space pirates from the planet Zebes. The pirates stole the Metroids and brought them to their home planet, where Mother Brain, leader of the planet, created a Metroid force.
Enter Samus
The Galactic Federation tasked bounty hunter Samus Aran with eliminating the space pirates and taking down the dangerous Metroids. Samus landed alone on Zebes and carried out her mission with speed and precision. After the skirmish on Zebes, the Galactic Federation assigned a task force to destroy the Meroids on SR388. That body was never heard from again. The Supreme Council gave Samus the job of flying to SR388 and doing what the task force couldn't do: extinguish the Metroids.
Back to SR388
The Metroids in SR388 were more advanced than the creatures in Zebes. These monsters could shed their skin and become even stronger. Samus worked deep beneath the surface and destroyed all the Metroids in her path. Her final victory was against the enormous Metroid Queen. When the queen was defeated, Samus discovered a Metroid egg that opened before her eyes. Even this hardened bounty hunter was unable to destroy the Metroid larva. When the larva sensed Samus' presence, it clung to her as if it had found its mother. Samus packed up the Metroid larva and took it to the Academy of Space Sciences in the Galactic Federation Space Colony, where scientists were able to study the creature and understand its special organic structure.
a new discovery
Scientists at the Academy of Sciences discovered that the Metroid's energy-producing properties could benefit humanity. Their report suggested that the Metroids may have originally been created for peaceful purposes. Just when it seemed that peace and order had been restored, Samus received an emergency directive from the Galactic Federation:
Emergency! Emergency! Immediately return to the Academy of Space Sciences!
When Samus headed to the research center, she found the building in ruins and the Metroid larva was nowhere to be found. Out of the darkness came a group of Zebesian space pirates and their leader, Ridley, who had the Metroid larva in tow. The pirates fled to a rebuilt planet Zebes and Samus followed them, resolving to finish them off and save the hatching.

Gameplay of Super Metroid
Super Metroid is a 2D sidescroller game. This game takes place mainly on the planet Zebes. We find a large, open world with areas connected to each other by doors and elevators. We will control Samus Aran as we search the planet for a metroid that has been stolen by ridley, the leader of the Space Pirates
Samus' abilities include running, jumping, crouching, and firing a gun in eight different directions; He can also, among other things, wall jump, jumping from one wall to another in quick succession to reach higher areas. The ability "Moon Walk", allows Samus to walk backwards without changing the direction of her body while shooting or loading her weapon.
During the game, we can acquire power-ups that improve armor and weapons, as well as grant you special abilities, allowing you to access areas that were previously inaccessible. One of the skills that will accompany us the most during the game is ?Morphing Ball? which allows Samus to turn into a ball and, in addition to rolling in tight places while we are in this form, she can plant bombs once a bomb power-up is acquired.
?Spring Ball? It will grant us the ability to jump while in Morphing Ball form.
?Speed Booster? It gives us the ability to run at super speeds and thus be able to break barriers and enemies that we encounter during the race. This ability will also give us access to locations in the game that we will not be able to access without this ability.
The ?Hi-Jump Boots? They allow a higher jump, and the Space Jump will allow us to jump in the air.
The ?Grapple Beam? We will use it to balance in open areas.
The x-ray scope It is an ability with which we can see elements and passages through hidden walls and other surfaces.
Super Metroid is such a special game that it has three possible endings based on the time it takes to complete the game, this determines whether Samus poses with or without her suit. Of course, and it couldn't be any other way, the best ending is achieved when the game is completed in less than three hours and also with all the skills found.
On the other hand, we will have an optional task that slightly alters the ending of the game. If the player chooses to rescue the Dachora and the etecoons, these are some friendly creatures that we will meet during the game, if we manage to save them, in a short space of time they are shown leaving the planet in the distance.
Graphics
Let's be frank. No matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise, graphics mean a lot for a game of this caliber. Super Metroid wouldn't be as hyped as it is today if it had the graphical depth of Tetris. While the games' visuals aren't always what you'd call eye-catching (until a boss appears), they maintain an insane level of detail, creativity, and a effort simple and obvious.
I also don't mean to shorten the game with that sentence; I I preferthe graphic style used here. The bright colors and silicone sprites look great at first, but it's very easy to take them for granted after ten minutes of playing. Super Metroid's style is more subtle, realistic and, on the contrary, sci-fi oriented (heh).
And don't get me started on the animation. While excellent games like Castlevania IV often have three or four frames for the hero, Samus herself is poetry in motion. Watch it gently sway up and down in patient abstinence as you give your mind and legs a rest as you take in the intricate scenery.
Enemies are similar in their fluidity, with giant praying mantises swooping down and mutated fish propelling themselves smoothly through the waters. The environments maintain the same level of quality and diversity; By looking at any screenshot, you'll instantly know which sector Samus is exploring. What more could you want? Huge, strange and terrifying boss sprites will serve as a treat for your eyes. As a Super NES entry, we would expect our price for this to be a massive breakout and slowdown. But rest assured, Super Metroid will have NONE of that.
Music and Sound
Video game music can be your worst enemy in an exploration-oriented game. Nintendo knew this and made sure that the soundtrack was not overtly catchy, but undeniably well composed. The music in Super Metroid is lulling and ambient, sometimes melancholic, sometimes influenced by psychedelia (Brinstar comes to mind), and sometimes even comprised of alien chants and drum beats. But always remember it's music of video games and wisely steers clear of being too boisterous (with the notable exception of the excellent boss fight tracks). Yes, of course, I'm going to say that this is one of the best game soundtracks ever. I've had the Brinstar thing stuck in my head for a while. seven years and I still like it.
Final reflection
Super Metroid is a beautiful game. It's not just in images, music or any other category. It's in the way it all comes together. As EOrizonte said in his Metroid Fusion review, the feeling of being alone on a hostile planet with no idea what to do or where to go puts the finishing touch on an already incredible game. The lulling music, the alien environments, the monstrously beautiful enemies, all work together to create a sense of atmosphere, of atmosphere, that I have never seen equaled. It's just you and the planet.
That's why I think Super Metroid is the epitome. The perfect combination of practically all the elements seen in any video game make Super Metroid a must for any true gaming fan. When people talk about the 'best game ever', 90% often comes down to the presentation. But Super Metroid has much deeper gameplay depth than any RPG, and it has the presentation element down pat. If you lack attention span or aesthetic sense, you may want to look elsewhere, but for everyone else, this game is for you.
