Sketch Turner, the creator of the hit comic Comix Zone, is magically transformed in the pages of his own comic by the book's supervillain Mortus. Mortus dreams of world domination, but the only way he can do so is if Sketch dies within the pages of the comic. Throughout the game, Mortus's hand appears in the frame and draws enemies to eliminate Sketch.
